Can you hear the boost?

A taste of the Frequency Quiz. We push one band of pink noise up by 12 dB. Flip the EQ on and off to compare, then pick the frequency you think is boosted.

Use headphones and start with your volume low.

Ride faders, turn knobs, play keys and map the neck. You train with the same moves you make in the studio and on your instrument.

Ride the faders

Find the boosted band on an EQ and balance several tracks by ear.

Turn the knob

Dial in compressor attack and release, reverb amount and delay time until it sounds right.

Play the keys

Tap notes, build scales and stack chords on a full keyboard, then read the staff at speed.

Map the neck

Find frets, form triad and CAGED shapes and highlight every root on the fretboard.

Daily practice

Little and often.
That's how ears grow.

Ear training works best little and often. Every day you get a short, deliberate session built around you, and a nudge so you don't forget it.

  1. 01

    Two fresh units, every day

Your daily session is picked to match your training focus, and it changes every day.

  2. 02

    Weak spots come back more

Units you score lower on show up more often, and ones you haven't tried yet get mixed in.

  3. 03

    Keep the streak alive

Finish the set to extend your streak, earn ladder points and watch your mastery grow.

Learn

Learn it. Then drill it.

Ten bite-sized theory lessons take you from the layout of the keyboard to chord progressions. Each one links to the units that put it into practice.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Who is StudioEars for?

Audio engineers, music producers, musicians and sound designers: anyone who wants to make faster, more confident decisions by ear. Engineers get EQ, dynamics, effects and rhythm. Players get ear training, piano, guitar and theory. Or pick both.

Do I need an instrument?

No. Ear training and audio engineering units are pure listening. Piano and guitar units come with an on-screen keyboard and fretboard, so you can practice anywhere.

What should I listen on?

Good headphones or studio monitors give you the best results, especially for EQ, compression and reverb units where small details matter.

How does the daily session pick units?

You get two units each day based on your training focus. Units you score lower on come back more often, and ones you haven't tried yet get mixed in, so practice always goes where it helps most.

What's free and what's in Studio Pro?

The free tier includes the daily session, 5 training units per day, every theory lesson, the ladder and the built-in tools. Studio Pro All Access, available monthly or yearly, lets you practice every unit without limits.

How does the ladder work?

Every unit you finish earns points. The ladder ranks players by their rolling 90-day score, so recent practice is what counts. Follow friends to compare scores and see their activity in your feed.
